How to get there
From the A4 motorway (Milan-Venice) take the ‘Brescia Est’ exit and continue along the SS45bis towards Madonna di Campiglio. From the ring road take the exit to Sabbio Chiese and follow the signs to ‘Lumezzane’. After a few kilometres, take a right at the next junction signposted Bione. Then continue along the main road in the direction of Pieve. After arriving at the parish church of Bione Pieve, leave the car in the small square opposite.
An itinerary in Bione, the peaceful centre of the ‘Conca d’Ora’. The route runs along roads and bridle ways. The first attraction that we will visit is the Church of ‘Santa Maria Assunta’. Built in the 16th Century on the remains of the old ‘pieve’, this church houses valuable paintings and ornate wooden frames. On leaving the church, we head towards the pizza restaurant in the same square and carry straight on down the street Via Secondo Calzoni. After about 200 metres we see the façade of the ‘Casa degli Angeli’, built in the sixteenth century and later decorated with figures in the eighteenth century. We then head back to the church, in front of the main façade, and onwards on the uphill road (Via Avis). We cross at the first junction to continue along Via Avis. After a hundred metres we turn left at the crossroads near the building. At the crossroads of the hamlet Bersenico Sopra, we carry on along ‘Via Emigrati del lavoro’ which climbs up to the right. After about 100 metres, we will follow the signs for the ‘Piano di Lò’ (Lò Plain) on the left and after about 100 metres we take ‘Via Pian di Lò’ uphill to the right. Immediately after we will straight on up the main road. We pass the shrine of ‘San Gottardo’ and continue on the main road past a number of junctions. After passing a small group of houses, the road gets steeper and becomes quite challenging. The extensive upland plain of Lò will stretch before us upon our arrival, the ideal place to relax and have a picnic. From here, you can easily reach the peaks of Monte San Bernardo and Monte San Vigilio, with their relative shrines. The return journey follows the same route.
